BIA BOARD OF MANAGEMENT MINUTES

Present: Chair Lisa Smith, Vice-Chair Cynthia Kinghorn, Ray Young & Brett Todd

Chair Lisa Smith called the meeting to order at 5:05pm.

It was moved by Ray Young, and seconded by Cynthia Kinghorn that the Minutes of March 12 and April 16, 2008 be approved. Carried

Chair’s Report – The Leeds and Grenville Vacation Guide had contacted Lisa awith regards to an ad for the BIA. It was moved by Cynthia Kinghorn and seconded by Ray Young that the BIA purchase an ad for $215.00. Carried.

Vice-Chair Report – No report presented.

Town of Prescott Report - Brett Todd reported that Council is in the final stages of it’s budget.

Correspondence – None

Spring Spree – The last details to be undertaken for the weekend were discussed. These items include the cancellation of the Service Club Signs Dedication, securing a sound system, the confirmation of the Giant Inflatable Slide and other small details.

Other / New Business – Hanging Baskets – Discussion was held regarding the readiness of the baskets for installation, and on the advice of the grower, installation would wait until the weather warms. Further discussion was held regarding the watering and maintenance of the baskets. It was moved by Ray Young and seconded by Brett Todd that the BIA further commit $3,000.00 to this project. Carried.

Further discussion was held regarding the fact that Mika North is back in Prescott and should we consider hiring her on a part-time/contract/casual basis. The board suggested we look into an EODP application for an intern.

It was noted that James Richardson had an update regarding Talent by the Tower, and will report at the next meeting.

It was also noted that Karen Chick had an update regarding Pirate’s Days, and will report at the next meeting.
